are a tight, new wave, funk/rock band & have made tremendous
ground. As individuals, Urban Stone have solid musicianship
& experience behind them, as well as a great stage vibe & of
course, an 'Itch 2 Scratch' when it comes to rockin' out 2
rockin' crowds.
The Stone have recieved re-bookings & great feedback at just
about
every venue, function or outdoor event they've performed
thus far. Their original material has been described as
'Fresh', Funk/Hip Rock, with an old school 80's rock God
edge. Recently, The Stone have extended their versatility by
writing some smooth Acoustic/Powerpop, Punk Rock, Melodic
Metal & even some bluesy trax to add some real light & shade
to their original repertoire. They play over 100 cover
songs, ranging from the rockin' 70's & 80's, to the current
Top 50 (Including some revamped rocked up versions of their
own). Basically, a little something for everyone. The covers
shows are very popular & suit a range of venues, crowds &
occasions.
With powerhouse rockette 'Tina Garufi' out front, surrounded
by all round, tasty rocker 'Dan Skeed', 'Slap (Kelvin) King'
& The Groovemeister 'Matt Briscoe-Hough', they've made their
mark by playing alongside some of Australia's most respected
rockers such as - The Screaming Jets, The Angels, Ian Moss
(Cold Chisel), Gangajang & more. They've caught the ears &
eyes of many crowds & Industry profiles throughout the inner
City, Western Suburbs & Outskirts Of Sydney.
They've received some much appreciated recognition for their
efforts such as: -
-
A
nomination for the 'ACE Awards' (Australian Club
Entertainment) Original Music Group Of The Year
alongside 'Thirsty Merc', Shorrock & Goble ('The Little
River Band') & 'Mental As Anything'.
-
They've
raised the bar in the past, & had great success in
numerous competitions such as The Sydney Division Of The
World Wide 'Global Battle Of The Bands' @ 'Home'
Nightclub In Darling Harbour (placed 2nd in 2005),
'CLASH' Battle Of The Bands in Sydney's west (placed 2nd
in 2005), & 'Liverpool Idol' Rock Band Comp (Placed 2nd
In 2005 & 1st In 2006).
Urban Stone have also done a couple of T.V gigs.
Currently performing in venues all around NSW & beyond, they
aim to go 1 step further & hit the airways with a hot debut
E.P. launched later this year.
